PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- A man and woman were arrested on multiple drug charges after deputies responded to the report of a physical disturbance at their residence.
Deputies responded to 19934 Midway Blvd in Port Charlotte on Thursday at about 5:30 p.m. for a physical disturbance involving Scott Francis Comtois, 23, and Candice Maria Goodman, 33, both of that address.
Goodman alleged that Comtois had battered her. When deputies checked Comtois for weapons, they found him to be in possession of a spoon and a syringe that tested positive for opiates. Other items of paraphernalia were observed inside the house. The house was secured and a search warrant was obtained by the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit.
Comtois was initially arrested on charges of possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was also arrested on a warrant for violation of probation.
When the Narcotics Unit executed the search warrant, they located more spoons, pipes and syringes which tested positive for opiates, cocaine and cannabis. These items were located in areas easily accessible to children who lived at the residence.
As a result, Comtois was additionally charged with possession of controlled substances, possession of paraphernalia and child neglect. Goodman was arrested on similar charges. This is Comtois’ 9th arrest. He is being held without bond due to the Violation of Probation charges. This is Goodman’s 2nd arrest. She is being held on $5,000 bond.
