CANTON, OH- A veterinarian says she's made an unconventional, lifelong friend. A decade ago, she rescued a deer and nursed it back to life. Now, that deer lives with her, but as Kristen Volk shows us, this deer goes beyond the backyard. In fact, it's domesticated.
The deer, named Dillie, is nearly four feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. The vet says she didn't intend to take Dillie in as a pet nine years ago, but when she nursed this farm-raised doe back to health and realized that she didn't like being out in the barn with the horses, Dillie started hanging out inside. Now, her human "dad" wouldn't have it any other way.
Dillie is one popular doe. She's got her own website, Facebook page and even a web cam in her bedroom, which has attracted more than a million viewers.
Dillie is a farm-born deer, so Ohio law says its perfectly legal for her to be kept as a pet.
