A 14-year-old is taking on the fashion magazine industry.
Julia Bluhm and her friends staged a mock photo shoot with other teenagers in front of the headquarters for Seventeen magazine. Bluhm says photoshopping and airbrushing models and celebrities sends the wrong message especially to young girls.
Bluhm started an online petition asking the magazine to commit to one unaltered photo spread a month.
She delivered thousands of petitions to Seventeen's editor-in-chief who agreed to meet with her inside the building.
A spokesperson for the magazine released a statement saying, "We feature real girls in our pages and there is no other magazine that highlights such a diversity of size, shape, skin tone and ethnicity."
