NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.-  An accident that occured early Wednesday morning sent Sgt. Robert Kizzire from the Lee County Sheriff's Office to the hospital.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m.at US 41 and Betmar Boulevard in North Fort Myers.

Kizzire, 40, suffered minor injures after his Crown Victoria flipped several times before coming to a rest.

He was trying to avoid a collision with 20-year-old Desirae Marinell of North Fort Myers.

Marinell is being charged with failure to yield to the right of way.
