PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives said positive identification was made Saturday evening of the woman whose badly decomposed body was found in the back seat of a car late Friday night in a Walmart parking lot. MCU detectives said cause of death is still to be determined by the Charlotte County Medical Examiner for Jennifer Anne Simpson, 29, of 20288 Rutherford Avenue, Port Charlotte.
CCSO deputies were dispatched Friday at 11:36 p.m. to Walmart, 375 Kings Highway, Port Charlotte (Deep Creek area) after patrons reported a foul smell coming from a car in the parking lot. When deputies arrived they discovered the body of a white female in the back seat of the white 1999 VW Jetta; Major Crimes Unit detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded. Employees told detectives the car had been in the parking lot several days. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
