HOUSTON (AP) - Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' top aide says no specific date has been set, but the Arizona Democrat could be released from hospital before the end of the month.
Giffords is recovering from a gunshot wound to the head. Her office posted the first photographs of Giffords since the shooting on the congresswoman's Facebook page today. Both are outdoors and one shows her smiling. The other shows her sitting with her mother. They show her smiling with shorter, darker hair but few obvious signs that she was shot in the head in January.
One of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' closest friends in Congress says she had a "wonderful" telephone conversation with Giffords this week. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz tells NBC's "Meet the Press" that Giffords is making "remarkable progress."
But, aides say Giffords is having trouble communicating verbally and still has a long way to go in her recovery.
