CAPE CORAL, Fla- A Cape Coral woman awoke to someone knocking loudly on her front door Wednesday at 8:15 a.m.As she approached the door, she was startled by the sight of two men looking through the glass portion of her front door while ringing the doorbell. 

She saw the men, described as 5’7” with a stocky build and the other was 6’ with a crew cut both in their 20’s, leave in a newer white Nissan Altima.

Approximately 5 minutes later, the car returned and the suspects began banging on the front door, this time with more force. The victim, who is an avid hunter, went to her bedroom and retrieved her hunting rifle. At that time, she heard a noise coming from her garage and then saw the stocky male suspect enter her home and begin walking towards her bedroom. The victim raised her rifle, as the male suspect noticed her standing in her bedroom doorway.

The victim fired one round at the male who sprinted out of the garage door and fled the area. The male was not shot during the break-in.

At 8:28 a.m., a neighbor called 911 regarding the burglary and gunshot. Cape Coral Police responded to 531 Retunda Pkwy, however the suspects were gone upon arrival.
