NORTH FORT MYERS, FL-Deputies say, a senior citizen takes a drunken wild ride, through his community on a golf cart.
It came to an abrupt halt, they say, after the man hit two mailboxes and a car.

"This was unbelievable, even my wife jumped up and she said, what in the world was that?!"

Deputies say it was 81 year old Billy Willis, slamming into this mailbox on his golf cart.

"He just took down the mailbox and they were going at such a speed that when the windshield broke the carried it all the way down to where that black car is."

From there resident bob sires says willis continued swerving down the street followed by two friends in another golf cart.
Deputies say willis was drunk.
Sires, a former law enforcement officer, says he followed behind.

"I wanted to see where they were going because they had taken off after damaging the mailboxes and they were in no condition to be on the road."

That's when he says willis crashed the cart into a car parked on the road.

"I pulled up behind them and they're trying to pull it away from the car...and I said wait what are you doing, you damaged this man's car, where do you think you're going?"

Billy willis told WINK off camera that he doesn't remember the incident at all and doesn't deny having one too many martinis.
He says he does wish the matter had been settled within the community, instead of with law enforcement. However, someone called 911.

"They were almost holding one another up, they were highly intoxicated."

Willis was arrested..and charged with hit and run, property damage, and driving under the influence.
