FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Fort Myers Police Department received a call in reference to an accidental shooting at 3606 Seminole Avenue at 11:38 am. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers were told the shooting was the result of a robbery.

Police set up a perimeter and called for the assistance of K9 and aviation.

Further investigation revealed that the call was indeed for an accidental shooting.

Police learned that Michael Sanders, 21, dropped a gun that he was handling. The gun went off and shot Thomas Solis, 26, in the leg.

Solis was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non life-threatening injury.

The incident is still under investigation.

Police have not filed charges in the case at this time.
