FORT MYERS, Fla.-- A day of fashion and fun goes a long way to help local kids in the fight for their lives.

And WINK News was their to support the "model" cause.

The 9th Annual Step Into Spring Fashion Show hosted by the Candlelighters of Southwest Florida was held Tuesday at The Forest Country Club in Fort Myers.

There were some familiar faces modeling the latest spring fashions in hopes of promoting the Candlelighters' mission of supporting children and families coping with cancer and other blood disorders.

WINK News anchors Jennifer Stacy and Rob Spicker emceed and modeled in the fashion show and luncheon to raise money to support the childhood cancer foundation.

Candlelighters serves approximately 450 families in a five county area - Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, and Glades - providing support, education and advocacy to children as well as the professionals that care for them.

The local chapter was founded in 1983 by Klair Snellbaker, a parent of a child diagnosed with cancer.

The Candlelighters motto is "Because kids can't fight cancer alone." The group puts together family events for the kids to enjoy, including weekly pizza parties at the oncology ward and fun outings to bowling alleys, movie theaters and amusement parks.

The Step Into Spring Fashion Show is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year. Last year it raised more than $25,000. But donations have been down recently and the organization could use your help.
