PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Last month WINK News told you about Phil Cerciello. His restaurant in Punta Gorda has had their used cooking oil stolen not once, not twice, but on five separate occasions.
Cerciello was baffled about it.
"I never thought I would have to worry about someone stealing used fry oil," he said. Not to be had, he decided to take action and had a video surveillance system installed in his restaurant.
"I had cameras installed because it got to a point now where now its a cat and mouse game," he said.
On Saturday night, Cerciellos patience was rewarded when he caught two men on camera stealing his fry oil.
"I couldn't believe my eyes there they are taking their time nonchalant stealing the oil, Cerciello said.
The video clearly shows two men in an Izuzu box truck pull up and check the vat. They then proceed to steal all of Cerciellos used oil.
"These guys are set up for this they have an enclosed box truck, no markings, " Cerciello said.
As if the theft wasn't bad enough, the tape itself clearly shows one of the burglars committing a final act of defiance that made Cerciellos blood "boil."
"That was the slap in the face, this guy gets all done and he urinates right there on my dumpster," Cerciello said.
So Now, Cerciello is urging WINK News viewers to call authorities if they know anything about these two men or the truck they were driving.
The theft is being investigated by the Punta Gorda Police Department.
