LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Fort Myers Police Officer Oneil Kerr was arrested Tuesday at about 7:05 p.m. by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for a misdemeanor battery.
Kerr has been employed with the department for just less than three years. He is accused of being involved in a domestic dispute with his wife.
“This is not the conduct that we would expect from one of our officers. State Statute and department policy requires due process and Officer Kerr has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation and an internal affairs investigation by our Professional Standards Bureau,” Chief Doug Baker said.
Kerr was arrested at the Lee County Jail after turning himself in to deputies. As with any other criminal investigation, the case will be forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office
