CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Illegal pain clinics are a big problem across the state of Florida.

State officals estimate as many as seven people die every day in the Sunshine State as a result of prescription pain medications.

Now the city of Cape Coral is doing something about it.

Officials will be drafting an ordinance that will put a moratorium on permitting these illegal businesses from opening in the Cape. The ordinance will be presented at a council workshop Monday evening.

Councilman Bill Deile says he wants to have the ordinance in place before Cape Coral becomes a haven for unscrupulous doctors.
