FORT MYERS, FL- Fort Myers businesses are heating up- literally. That's after thieves stole the parts from 8 air conditioning units at Colonial Professional offices.
Steven Denoon says, The next thing I know, the policeman shows up and says, your ac units have been stolen, are you aware of this.?"
Steven DeNoon has a business at Colonial Professional officers. Over the weekend eight of the building's AC units were stripped of their copper wire.
"They had cameras on both sides of building, and both those cameras were knocked down."
Employees came in to temperatures in the 80's.
Max Melrose and his employees at this health care insurance office came in Tuesday dressed for the heat.
"It's brutal, it's like being, it's like being trapped in a plastic bag in the middle of summer time."
He says, it's affecting his business.
"I hired three new people and they all walked out because of the heat, so it was a wasted dollar on the ad, the staff up there is really uncomfortable."
Also taken was a cast iron piano part from the early 1900's.
He's hoping the part will be recognized when the thieves go to scrap it. Melrose says his office is just hoping from some quick relief from the heat.
