FORT MYERS, Fla. - An employee severely injured after a ferris wheel seat fell on him is recovering from surgery to repair a broken nose and left arm.
21 year old John Haycook says his boss told him to knock the bolts out of the ferris wheel as they broke down the fair. As he did though Haycook says the steel seat got loose and fell on top of him.
He suffered a broken nose, broken left arm, and multiple bruises all over his body - Sunday was Haycook's first day on the job and was expecting to travel with the fair throughout the state.
The company that runs the fair did not make themselves available for comment involving the incident.
Monday he had surgery to repair his arm and is expected to be released from Lee Memorial Hospital by Tuesday.
His family says they expect to have an attorney by the end of the week.
