FORT MYERS, Fla.- A jury convicted Roger Jackson in 2006 of killing Lee County K9 officer Alko, and stabbing his handler, Officer Frank Glover.

Today, Jackson says he deserves another trial because he says his lawyer told him not to take the stand to tell his side of the story.

"My testimony would be no good because I'm going against officers and I'm a convicted felon," Jackson said.

Jackson then told the judge for the first time that two officers hit and pistol whipped him before he fled. His current lawyer says if the jury knew it was self defense, he may not be behind bars today.

Jackson's former lawyer says he didn't tell his client not to testify. The officer Jackson stabbed sat quietly in the courtroom, waiting to heari f his attacker will get another chance.
