FORT MYERS, Fla - Spirit Airlines Flight 678 sat at the gate at Southwest Florida International for six hours yesterday before being grounded.
The carrier says a maintenance issue forced them to cancel the 4:25pm flight to Detroit. Passengers, however, grew impatient after the airline did little to accommodate them. The carrier eventually handed out $7 food vouchers at the airport, but by the time passengers got their luggage most restaurants were closed.
Spirit didn't put up any of 142 passengers in a hotel. The group was forced to figure out where they're staying until the next flight out on Wednesday.
