LEE COUNTY- WINK News learns that Robb & Stucky's corporate office in Lee County will face extensive layoffs.
Workers were notified of the layoffs Friday, which will affect 178 positions, approximately half the workforce.
The positions affected range from warehouse workers to the CEO. The jobs are set to be eliminated by April 23.
It comes as the furniture retailer also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
"The company issued the letter in accordance with Federal law and we expect that a buyer will retain significant numbers of our employees to assist in this process," Robb & Stucky representatives said.
Wink's Jeremiah Jacobsen spoke with the SWFL Workforce Development Board. The Board expects to be called in to offer workers information on new positions, retraining and unemployment.
