WAYNE, Mich. (AP) - A massive explosion at a furniture store in southeast Michigan has collapsed the building and left at least three people trapped.

Wayne City Manager John Zech tells WWJ-AM that fire crews are attempting to extricate them from the William C. Franks home furniture store in Wayne, about 15 miles west-southwest of Detroit. He says at least one person has been pulled from the collapsed building.

The building's roof has caved in completely onto the store, leaving rubble strewn about the street.

The explosion happened about 9 a.m. Wednesday. It is not immediately known if anyone has been injured.

Consumers Energy officials say they are "pretty sure natural gas is involved" in the blast and are "working to get it shut off." Witnesses tell WWJ that the explosion shook surrounding buildings.
