WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says the U.S. is committed to destroying the Yemeni-based terror group officials believe is connected to a terror plot on three continents.
Speaking from the White House, Obama says the U.S. will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Yemen's government to destroy the country's al-Qaida branch. The group is responsible for an attempted bombing of a U.S.-bound airliner last Christmas.
Authorities say they are increasingly confident Yemen's al-Qaida branch is connected a package containing explosive materials intercepted in Dubai on its way from Yemen and another package in England.
