PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) - A Panhandle man who pleaded guilty in the 2008 shooting deaths of his parents has died in a Southwest Florida Prison.

Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger and family members said Wednesday that 28-year-old Ricky Morris died after he was injured in a fight with another inmate. Plessinger says the department is withholding details about the fight at Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda pending an investigation.

In February 2008, Morris called 911, told dispatchers he had shot and killed his parents at their rural Bay County home and then waited for police to arrive.
