FORT MYERS, Fla. - Some kids have taken over the stage at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts. They are producing, directing and starring in their own version of "Hairum Scarum."
The 25-minute long, one-act comedy is about famous storybook characters who go to a salon to get their hair done.
Nine kids are in the show, including tech kids, and the play is being directed by 10-year-old Sherry Niekamp.
"I wanted to do this in my driveway with my friends," Sherry explains, "but that seemed like a lot of work." After getting some stage time donated, she decided to get some friends involved at stage it at the Alliance. "I love the theatre," she said, "so I thought it would be cool to direct."
The curtain goes up Friday, September 24, at 5:30 pm. There is only one performance. The Alliance for the Arts is located off McGregor Boulevard, just south of Colonial Boulevard. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for kids.
