CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Charlotte County Sheriff’s Narcotics detectives arrested two drug dealers Wednesday in Port Charlotte during an undercover drug buy. One of them was a mother of a 3 year old girl who was in the car and saw the drug deal go down.
Arrested were Daniel Jacob Dunn, 21, 3740 Easy St., and Jennifer Michelle Lovell, 22, 18267 Cortland Ave., both of Port Charlotte. Detectives said Wednesday was the third time they did an undercover operation to purchase from Dunn a total of 45.4 grams of marijuana. They were on Sep. 11, 14, and 22 in parking lots of Murdock businesses (in this order, Books a Million, Checkers and Walmart). In the last two drug purchases Lovell was in the vehicle with her 3 year old daughter who witnessed the drug deals which were within a few hundred feet of the Englewood Methodist Church, 19190 Cochran Blvd.
Once the transaction was completed, Narcotics detectives and Street Crimes Unit deputies moved in. Detectives searched the vehicle and found a hidden compartment in the passenger side door that had a container with six Methadone pills. The child was turned over to a relative while Dunn and Lovell were transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Both were charged with Child Neglect of a 3 Year Old Child, plus Sale and Delivery of Marijuana. Dunn was additionally charged with two counts of Sale and Delivery of Marijuana Within 1,000 Feet of a Church, plus Possession of Methadone, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Lovell remains in jail on a $5,000 bond; Dunn is being held on no bond as a convicted felon with a history of drug arrests, the latest was Sep. 4. If anyone has information about illegal drug activity, please call the CCSO Narcotics Unit at 941-575-2157, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
