COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Shots fired on the campus of a Naples school, and WINK News is learning it was a deputy who fired the shot.
There were no children around at the time and no one was hurt.
The Collier County Sheriff's office won't reveal what school this happened at because the deputy who fired the gun lives in a trailer on school grounds. But, it is certain that it did not happen at a public school.
According to the incident report Cpl. Robert Leocadio went to the restroom while visiting Civilian Deputy Monica Weiben's trailer on August 27th shortly after nine that night.
He placed his Glock semi-automatic handgun on a table, and while in the bathroom heard the gun go off.
Leocadio attributes Weiben's mistake to drinking earlier in the day.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating. WINK News is also trying to get to the bottom of what the policy is for deputies who live on school property, whether public or private, when it comes to drinking.
