CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reported further details in finding the missing mentally challenged woman this morning in Deep Creek, thanks to the A Child is Missing reverse call system.
The 29 year old woman walked away from her home on San Jorge Drive around 7:30 a.m. After a search, the family notified the CCSO at 9:10 a.m. Deputies, K9 and the Aviation helicopter responded. CCSO Dispatch notified the A Child is Missing organization and reverse calls were made in the Deep Creek area alerting residents. The woman qualified in the ACIM program due to her mental status.
CCSO received three calls within minutes as a result of the ACIM effort. One of them was at 10:32 a.m. when a woman called after she discovered the missing woman laying in the swale in front of her home. The missing woman got up and left; the caller got into her vehicle and followed her but forgot her cell phone.
The CCSO helicopter responded over the area about a mile west of the missing woman's home and spotted the callers vehicle following her. Deputies and K9 responded to that area off Maraca Street and found the woman safe. She was then returned to her home; she was not injured.
