GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A small Gainesville church that spurred international protests after it planned to burn the Quran is looking to move the church to the Tampa area.
Wayne Sapp, associate pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center, said Pastor Terry Jones is disappointed in the lack of support from Gainesville. He hopes to move the church before the year's end. The Pentecostal church has about 50 members.
Sapp called Gainesville an overly liberal area, "controlled by the university."
Jones led an effort to burn the Quran on Sept. 11, but canceled the event after international pressure.
