FORT MYERS, Fla. - Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:14 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department received a call in reference to a suspicious person. Officers learned that while walking to school a 13-year old girl was approached by a stranger in a car near the intersection of Hanson Street and Meadow Avenue. The man asked her if she was walking far. The girl ignored him. The man continued to follow her and then told her to get in his car. The girl again ignored him. In an effort to make him leave she walked up to a house and approached the door as if it where her own. The man then drove away.
The girl describes the suspect as a black male in his 30’s, with short hair and wearing a white t-shirt. He had a gold ring on his left hand. He also spoke Creole. He was driving an older model green sedan possibly a Toyota Corolla with faded/chipped paint on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Officers responding to the location canvassed the area but did not locate the vehicle. Police remind parents to teach children not to talk to strangers, to never accept rides, candy or toys from strangers and to always walk, travel and play in groups or with a friend. And report suspicious activity.
