FORT MYERS, Fla. - With unemployment affecting so many Southwest Floridians it's hard to stand out in all the competition. Career Builder recently surveyed more than 2500 hiring experts and found 38% said they spend less than a minute looking at a resume. 18% said they take less than 30 seconds.
Eight out of ten hiring managers surveyed suggest customizing your application or resume to the specific job posted. Remember to keep it professional and be mindful of your email address. Don't make it too cute or over the top. Finally, use bullet points that highlight your skills.
Managers also say you want to avoid keeping the resume too long, don't use pictures, and while in an interview stay away from phrases like, "I'll have your job in five years".
