CAPE CORAL, Fla. - A new report shows allowing Cape police officers to take their work vehicles home will save the city money.
Interim Police Chief Jay Murphy ordered the report. It details the potential savings of tax dollars by allowing officers to take their work vehicles home- a policy that's already in place.
"This report seems to support the old adage, 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and this says it ain't broken. If thats true and we look at this and evaluate it and come to the same conclusion, then we don't fix it. We leave it the way it is."
The Cape is already paying a contractor to evaluate the city's fleet of vehicles which includes police cars.
