HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. - A Hendry County woman accused of running over and killing the man she thought raped her made an appearance in court Thursday. 21 year old Amber Lee is facing second degree murder charges.
Lee's lawyers asked a judge to reduce her bond because she's about to give birth to her second child. Lee told a judge she has complications with her pregnancy and is afraid she won't get the treatment she needs in jail. The judge said her bond, currently at 100,000 dollars, is fair considering she's charged with second degree murder.
Prosecutors said she was raped during a robbery and she tried to run over the man who raped her, but instead killed his friend.
Her family was in the courtroom watching. They said Lee is not a murderer and are not happy with the judge's decision.
Lee talked only to WINK before her arraignment last month. She told us she didn't mean to hurt anyone. She said she was just trying to get away from a bad situation. Her boyfriend was in the car with her while it all happened.
