COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - A mansion in the Golden Gate Estates burns to the ground.
It started around 4:30 on Golden Gate Boulevard. Fire officials say a man living at the home was mowing his lawn when he noticed smoke coming from the house.
What was originally thought to be hurricane glass keeping intense heat and flames inside is now thought to be heavy window tint, and may have caused the fire to spread faster.
The state Fire Marshal has been called because there are concerns about how the fire started.
The Red Cross was also on scene to help the family and dispense food and water to the multiple crews that spent hours working on the blaze.
This area of the estates does not have fire hydrants; water had to be brought in by trucks.
