TUCSON, AZ - One person was killed and two others injured when a medical helicopter crashed in a central Tucson.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the helicopter was traveling to Douglas from Marana when it crashed Wednesday afternoon around 1:45 p.m. There was not a patient on the flight. Witnesses said the chopper went down in front of a house on Park Avenue just south of Glenn Street.
The helicopter is owned by Colorado-based AirMethods. Company officials declined comment on the incident.
According to the Arizona Daily Star, a witness said he saw the helicopter's rotors stop working and the aircraft plummet to the ground. The witness said the pilot managed to steer the helicopter away from a house.
Tucson firefighters extinguished the fire and there were no reported injuries on the ground.
