CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - County Commissioner Robert Skidmore and Punta Gorda Mayor Harvey Goldberg are trying to bring business back into the area.

They and several others are having a Phone Blitz to generate more bookings for the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, as well as the area's hotels.

This event was scheduled before the Gulf Coast Disaster and could not have come at a better time for local businesses, the Convention Bureau said.

So far, it is a success.  The Blitz has booked 2 to 3 events.

The Phone Blitz is scheduled to continue through Tuesday.
