NAPLES, Fla. - Nearly 40 vendors at the Big Cypress Market Place have less than a week to find a new place to go... and they're not happy about it.
"Long faces, disappointment, people's lives are ruined," said Elie Stern, a vendor for a year and a half.
"They could have given us at least a month so, people didn't have to buy merchandise and now they got screwed because now they have no place to go."
Management issued a letter last week, notifying of the August 1st closure - stating it was "for the summer."
But a lack of vendors, the market place is over 150 vendors shy of its capacity, and lack of customers also had an effect on the decision.
Representatives with Big Cypress Market Place said they will evaluate re-opening in the fall if they have enough vendors to justify it.
