LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - A Lehigh Acres church group has been trying to build their church for years - and they've been fighting off vandals for just as long.
All 22 windows were discovered, smashed Thursday morning by members of the Lehigh Community Baptist Church.
"I would forgive you but I would love to see you in jail," said Loretta Canady, a congregation member.
The church had been being built for the past 10 years, with members of the 30 person congregation paying for it out of pocket.
LCSO deputies have confirmed multiple criminal reports filed at the church.
"The glass doors, someone used a bee bee gun to shoot them out... and the "n" word was painted with a noose," said Canady.
The church's decon says the racial and violent actions don't reflect the communities desire for a place of worship.
"This neighborhood wants a church there's not one around this area and they would love to have a church here."
The group is currently having worship services at a nearby funeral home.
Repair costs for the windows are estimated to exceed $2,000.
