FLORIDA, An unemployment nightmare in Florida. Laid-off Americans here may not see any immediate relief. Right now, the state can't do anything with extended benefits until congress passes it.
Wednesday, the Senate passed a bill restoring benefits to those who have been out of work for six months or more. President Barack Obama is poised to sign the measure tomorrow.
So, how soon will Florida get the ball rolling and make their decision? September the earliest, unless there's a special session. It's up to the governor, or the senate president and the house speaker to make that decision.
