CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla - Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies arrested three men Monday in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries around the Port Charlotte High School area. Arrested were Nicholas David Ortiz, 18, his brother Alexander Gabriel Ortiz, 20, and Tyler P. Nelson, 19, all of Port Charlotte.
The Sheriff's office received a call at 3:22 a.m. after a man reported he was returning home on Midnight Street and saw someone by his grandfather’s truck. As he approached he said three people known to him were running from the area; two got in a vehicle but were stopped by deputies. The other, ran away but a CCSO K9 unit was called and conducted a track that led to the home on Brown Street. At 5:05 a.m. CCSO got another call to a home at 2187 Cannolot Street where an unlocked car had been opened an items stolen.
The investigation continues about more unlocked vehicles being entered on Midnight, Cannolot, Brown and Taunt streets, and Morrison Avenue. Items were recovered along the roadways and others were found in garage at the home. Items stolen were CD’s, CD cases, CD player, GPS units, knives, wallet and sunglasses.
More charges are expected to be filed.
