10:00 a.m. UPDATE:    Charlotte County detectives say the two bodies were found in a car in the garage at the home on Ventura Avenue in Port Charlotte.  Due to the decomposition of the two bodies, detectives still do not have a positive identification on either and are awaiting the Medical Examiner’s autopsy report. The bodies may have been there nearly a week. Detectives said at this time no foul play is expected. Names are being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Charlotte County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit detectives are investigating the deaths of a 90 year old mother and her 58 year old son found Monday afternoon in her home in Port Charlotte at 20095 Ventura Ave.

CCSO received a well being check call from a friend at 12:33 p.m. to check on the elderly woman. When deputies arrived and entered the home, they found the badly decomposed bodies inside.

MCU detectives say the bodies may have been there possibly a week before being found.

They were transported to the Charlotte County Medical Examiner's office in Murdock for autopsies and to find the cause of their deaths.

Detectives said at this time no foul play is expected but gave no details.

Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
