LEE COUNTY, Fla- An entire fort myers neighborhood is on edge tonight after a terrifying home invasion. Two men armed with guns stormed a home with kids inside. And while the suspects held the family at gunpoint, a little girl was brave enough to call 9-1-1.
23-year-old Brandon Murph was arrested last night near Billys Creek Drive after he allegedly held a family at gunpoint with another suspect. Reports show kids were playing in this house and mom was asleep in her bedroom when Murph and another man, armed with a rifle and hadngun, forced their way inside. The mother says she was awakened by a man pulling her out of bed by her hair and putting a gun to her head. One of the suspects reportedly told two young girls they don't kill little girls, only boys.
This man who did not want to be identified, says his 10-year-old daughter hid in the bathroom. She called 911. When deputies arrived both men fled. Murph was caught, the other suspect got away. A neighbor says she's glad no one was hurt.
Others were inspired to hear the little girl - in such terrifying moments - could protect her family.
Murph is being held at the Lee County Jail on armed robbery and home invasion charges.
Deputies tell us the other suspect in this home invasion is still on the loose.
