ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities have determined that a suspicious
package that cleared an Atlanta federal building is not a threat.
Atlanta Police Officer Otis Redmond said the suspicious package
contained a glass decorative object. Redmond said he didn't know
when the building would reopen.
Redmond said workers X-raying packages in the mail room of the
Peachtree Summit Federal Building found the suspicious package
Tuesday morning.
Hundreds of workers were evacuated from the building that houses
Internal Revenue Service offices, and a bomb squad was sent in.
The high-rise building of approximately 30 floors sits on a busy
intersection overlooking the interstate.
