FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fort Myers Police officers are investigating an early morning shooting on Hanson Street.

Around 1:00 Sunday morning officers responded to a shooting at 1868 Hanson Street. 

The caller advised that someone was trying to break into their house and he further advised that he shot the individual. 

Once on scene officers located the shooting victim, Sean Demirza, suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced dead. 

The homeowner told officers that he and his wife heard a lot of commotion from the rear of their home and heard someone opening the back door. 

The homeowner grabbed his firearm and went to see what was going on. 

He confronted Demirza. 

When Demirza grabbed him he pointed his firearm at Demirza and ordered him off the property.  

Demirza was shouting but the homeowner could not understand what was being said.

Demirza charged at the homeowner and the homeowner fired once striking him in the chest.
After further investigation it was discovered that Demirza suffers from seizures. 

He was apparently having an episode at the time of the incident. 

His roommate confirmed that he was having a seizure when he left his residence. 

The roommate searched the area for Demirza but could not find him. 

At this time it appears to be a justifiable homicide however, the investigation is ongoing.
