FORT MYERS, Fla.-- It's Cinco de Mayo, but you don't have to be in Mexico to celebrate the holiday. Wednesday, May 5th, the Downtown River District is throwing a Cinco de Mayo block party in Ft. Myers.
They're calling it the biggest party of the year for Cinco de Mayo. It's all to celebrate the Mexican Army's victory against the French on the morning of May 5Th, 1862.
The Ft. Myers party begins at 6:00 PM.
"5" is the lucky number. There's going to be at least five stages of live music, and five blocks of entertainment and dancing. There will also be five specialty beers served all night long. The event will last five hours.
The best part is, it's all free. There's going to be free parking downtown and you don't have to pay admission to attend. There will also be prizes and giveaways all through the night.
If you're worried about driving home after all the festivities--here's one safe option. Triple A says it's "Tow To Go" program will be offered today, so you and your car can get a free ride home. All you have to do is call 1-800-AAA-HELP.
