ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (AP) - Bud Cauley made only one birdie Friday at Sea Island, but it was enough to keep the PGA Tour rookie atop the leaderboard among the early starters in the second round of the McGladrey Classic.

Coming off eight birdies for a career-best 62 in the opening round, Cauley wasn't quite as sharp with his irons as a mild breeze began to blow along the coast. His lone birdie came at the par-5 seventh as he was finishing his round. Cauley was at 8-under 132, one shot ahead of Michael Thompson (68), Brian Gay (68), D.J. Trahan (67) and Chad Campbell, who hit all 18 greens in regulation on his way to a 67.

Vijay Singh had a 68 and was two shots off the lead.
