JOHNS CREEK, Georgia (AP) - Tim Clark has agreed to be an assistant captain under Greg Norman on the International team, meaning he'll travel to Australia for the Presidents Cup but he won't play.

Clark, who has not been able to compete most of the year because of an injured left elbow, agreed Tuesday to be an assistant captain during Nov. 17-20 event at Royal Melbourne in Australia's Victoria state.

The South African is still No. 9 in the International team standings, and the top 10 on Sept. 18 automatically qualify for the team. Clark says he realizes his elbow will keep him from playing, so he'll help in other ways.

Norman made the announcement Tuesday during a meeting of potential International team members.

Clark has played three Presidents Cup matches.
