FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Zachary Wright of Phoenix shot a 6-under 66 and has the lead after one round of the 36th Junior PGA Championship.
Meanwhile, Casey Danielson of Osceola, Wis., is atop the leaderboard on the girls side with a 68 - the lowest competitive round of her career - at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
Wright, 17, had five birdies and eagled the par-5 12th hole Tuesday to earn his four-stroke lead over Andy Shim of Duluth, Ga. and Daniel Chian of Covina, Calif.
Wright shot a 6-under 30 on the back nine, where he had only 11 putts on the notoriously difficult greens.
Danielson, 16, has a one-stroke lead over Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale, Ga., and Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand. Danielson had only 24 total putts at the 156-player, 72-hole event.
She shot 4 under on the back nine.
