LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Lawyers from Lee Memorial Health System are in Tallahassee this week, fighting for approval to build a hospital in the Estero area.
Earlier this year, the State rejected the Health System's plan to build an 80-bed hospital near US 41 and Coconut Road. They say the new hospital would hurt business at existing facilities, but Lee Memorial said the $81 million project would give people living in the area easier access to medical care.
The hearing is expected to last about nine days.
