MIAMI (AP) - Miami-Dade county government is spreading the word about breast cancer awareness.
The county will host a number of events throughout the month of October to help promote early detection and support organizations leading the fight against cancer.
Two breast cancer survivors on the board of commissioners will kick off the month with a special presentation with the American Cancer Society about the Nov. 9 breast cancer walk at Marlins Park.
A wellness fair will be held on Oct. 18 for residents to participate in activities promoting a healthy lifestyle. And a Miami-Dade Police Department vehicle, as well as a public works tractor trailer and a Metrobus have all been painted pink to support the cause.
