Harold Weary is not all that much different from others who decide it's time for hip replacement surgery. Except he's 103 years old.
Now, as he recovers from Monday's surgery, the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports the Mount Prospect resident isn't getting caught up in this talk from the hospital that he's the oldest person on record to undergo a total hip replacement. He's just talking about how he is looking forward to resuming his daily walks and getting back to taking trips to the local library.
Weary is about 35 years older than the typical person who undergoes hip replacement surgery. But Dr. Phillip Ludkowski says an evaluation determined he was a good candidate for the surgery and not a high-risk patient at all.
