COLLIER COUNTY, Fla - The risk of substance abuse triples when teens enter high school and kids entering middle school have an increased exposure to situations involving drugs and alcohol.

Summertime is idle time for students, which can lead to opportunities for youth to experiment with their friends. Drug Free Collier is hosting a Community Awareness Meeting open to parents, grandparents, guardians and any interested community member to learn the best practices to keep kids drug free during the summer. A panel of speakers will provide practical information, including:

  • At What Times is My Child at Increased Risk of Drug Use?

  • Summer Spikes, Drug Trends & Prevention Tactics

  • A View from the Eyes of an Emergency Responder

  • What Happened to Me: One Collier County Students Story

  • Prevention Through Social Networking

  • Tips, Tools & Resources

The meeting will be held at South Regional Library at 8065 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples on Wednesday, May 11th from 4:00 p.m. to  5:15 p.m.
