FORT MYERS, Fla - The Lee County school board voted 5-0 on Tuesday night to approve the contract for its new superintendent of schools.
Dr. Nancy Graham, who is to be sworn into office at a ceremony at district headquarters on Wednesday evening, will make $169,000 for her first year. The school board only approved a one year contract for Graham.
Her contract also says if the board does not find a new superintendent by May 1, they'll talk to Graham about whether they'll keep her in the position.
Here predecessor, Dr. Joseph Burke's annual salary was about $185,000.
The contract also includes other benefits, such as vacation time and a monthly car allowance of $700.
The school board will evaluate Dr. Graham's performance every three months.
Dr. Graham previously worked at the Lee County School District offices and as a principal in Lee County. Her most recent position was as principal of Naples High School.
